EDUchange

If one would question my peers about their opinion of school, many would say they don't like it. From my point of view, I don't understand their opinion. I enjoy school because education to me is important and interesting. Many are bored due to the way the topics are presented, so they have this mindset that everything is slow and uninteresting. Although, that is not true, many classes are interesting, but one must find a class the truly find interesting and not despise it. If one is bored in class, they act almost like a drone; they don’t pay attention and the information is not perceived or even received by the “zombie” student.

Currently, what interest me the most in school are sciences and social studies. My favorite class this year, so far, is AP human geography. This is due to the expansiveness of the subject and how broad the topics are. You can interpret it in many ways and you can provide your own example you know of. This is a good model that other subjects should take into consideration. This is how my biology class is like also, you must lead yourself in that class. There are many experiments that give you hands on experience. This is another good model with occasional note taking sessions. This is a more challenging model, but it makes the student embrace the info in the real world rather than a power point.

To change the education system is like trying to get a young child to eat their vegetables. To change school specifically in Florida, would have to go through to the state senators and governor. It would take a lot of consideration. If we were to change the national school system, it would have to go to the senate and the House of Representatives. Not only those two, but the President must approve it. If Romney wins, we would likely to see a change to happen that would be more conservative. Costing less than the Democratic plan which would be to spend and spend. A democratic plan could be what we need though. It all matters upon the revisions and adaptations the idea of changing the school system to be “more” interesting, could not even get far.

I cannot stress it enough, the school system will not be changed due to the complexity of the matter. If we could pass the changes to the public school system, they would receive more funding and time to have more ”hands on” activities that interest students. More visual representations and physical experience with the matter can improve the general quality and enjoyment factors of a student’s education. These new lessons should be easily relatable and usable in the real world. If you give a man fish, they can eat once. If you teach them “how” to fish, they can eat more than once.
